29 Jan 2014

January 29: Dhamra Port Company Limited has received from the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) the environment and coastal regulation zone (CRZ) clearance for phase II expansion of the port, thus paving the way for future expansion, the company said in a statement recently.

With this, Dhamra Port is expected to commence work on additional berths as part of its phase II expansion plans and is set to graduate to a full-fledged all-weather, multi-cargo, deep-water port in due time, the statement added.

The port has handled a total of 1.67 million tons (mt) of cargo in December, 2013, surpassing the figure of 1.54 mt in November 2013.

During December, the cargo was handled across 10 vessels, including 6 Capesize (also the highest number of Capesize vessel handled in a month at Dhamra Port). In addition, the port also handled 0.43 mt of export/coastal cargo in 9 vessels.
