Dip in India’s imported coal stocks at 9 ports w-o-w

May 18: India’s imported coal stocks at nine ports – eight major and one private –fell slightly in the week ended May 15, compared to the previous week as coal stocks at Kolkata, Marmagoa and Mumbai fell on a weekly basis, according to provisional data available with ICMW.

India’s imported coal stocks as on stood at 8.148 million tons (mt) as on May 15 against a volume of 8.170 mt as on May 8.

Coal stocks at Paradip Port rose to 2.804 mt as on May 15 to 2.804 mt against a volume of 2.730 mt as on May 8. Of the total coal stocks at the port on May 15 shares of steam coal and coking coal stood at 1.438 mt and 1.366 mt and respectively down from 1.344 mt and 1.386 mt respectively from May 8.

Imported coal inventories at Kolkata Port fell slightly in the current week. As on May 15, the port’s imported coal stocks stood at 0.950 mt from 0.966 mt recorded on May 8. Of the total coal stocks at the port on May 15, coking coal stocks remained at the same level of 0.212 mt while non-coking coal stocks at the port fell to 0.739 mt against a volume of 0.754 mt as on May 8.

Imported coal stocks at Mundra Port and Vizag Port on May 8 remained at previous levels of 0.280 mt and 1.800 mt respectively.

At Marmagao Port, as on May 15, coal stocks of JSW Steel and Adani stood at 87,000 and 112,000 tons respectively from 90,701 tons and 180,000 tons respectively on May 8, sources told ICMW.
