Dr. A K Dubey appointed interim Chairman of CIL

June 26: Additional Coal Secretary in the Ministry of Coal, Dr. A K Dubey, has been appointed interim chairman of Coal India Ltd (CIL) with effect from June 25, official sources said.
The decision to appoint Dr. Dubey as interim Chairman of CIL was taken by the Ministry of Coal on June 25, the official said.
On May 30, ICMW had reported that Dr. Dubey may be appointed as interim chairman in the aftermath of resignation of incumbent Chairman S Narsing Rao.
Again on June 18, ICMW had reported that the resignation of Rao has been accepted. Rao, a 1986 batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, was appointed chief of the world's largest coal producer in April 2012 for a five-year tenure. He was due to retire in 2018.
Dr. Dubey will officiate as Chairman of the company at least till next five-six months till the time a new Chairman is selected by Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB). In fact, PESB has not yet floated advertisement to fill the vacancy of CIL’s Chairman’s position.
