May 15: A dull trend, devoid of major interest, was witnessed in the international coal markets on May 15 amidst reports that Indonesian miners are planning to cut production in an attempt to maintain price levels, market sources said.
A number of Indonesian miners have allegedly cut their production levels which has reduced availability and consequently led to firmness in prices over the past few days, they added.
South African standard coal was slightly soft after a brief firmness on May 14, but off-spec material firmed up a bit after falling sharply the previous day.
