E-auction decision is to comply with old order: Dubey

September 10: The government’s recent decision to cut the volume of coal sold through the e-auction route is intended towards compliance with an old order on reducing the share of coal sold through this mode from 10% to 7%, according to Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Coal (MoC) A K Dubey.
“There was an order passed earlier that the e-auction volume is to be brought down to 7%. This decision is to ensure compliance with that old order,” said Dubey, who is currently acting as Chairman, Coal India Ltd (CIL).
He, however, evaded a reply when asked if the government was reconsidering CIL’s plea to review the decision.
The CIL board had, on August 12, discussed the issue and decided to ask the government to reconsider the decision of reducing the e-auction volume to 25 million tons.
