ECL gets Green nod for two coal blocks

October 15: Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), a subsidiary of Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL), was granted environment clearance (EC) from the Ministry of Environment & Forests (MoEF) for two mixed mines (opencast and underground)–Parbelia and Dubeswari – in cluster 5 in the Raniganj Coalfield with a peak rated capacity of 0.63 million tons per annum (mtpa).
The ministry awarded both ECs for the coal blocks vide a letter issued to the management on September 22, 2014.
As per the communique, the projects would come up in the Raniganj Coalfields and produce 0.485 million tons (mt) at a normative level and 063 mt in peak rated capacity of B and Sc.Gr-1 grade.
The total geological reserves in the two mines are at 35.93 mt. The minable reserves are 14.37 mt, while the total cost of the project would be Rs 43.24 crore.
