ER reviews projects, stresses on early completion

November 28: A high-level meeting of Eastern Railway (ER) reviewed projects, stressing on early completion.
It was noted that the gauge conversion project of the Katwa-Balgona line will begin from January 2015 while the 26.22 km gauge conversion Between Balgona and Katwa will mark the completion of gauge conversion of 52.22 km from Barddhaman to Katwa.
The meeting reviewed all the ongoing projects of ER concerning doubling, gauge conversion, new lines and other works and the targets for completion of the projects were also discussed. Each project was analysed critically regarding its physical status as on date.
R K Gupta, General Manager, ER, emphasised on judicious use of funds and optimum utilisation of resources for completing the projects on various passenger amenities and safety in particular and other projects in general.
He said the target for completion of various projects must be analysed critically at every level, aiming for early and timely completion. Various projects like Bandel – Katwa, Krishnanagar – Lalgola, Krishnanagar – Santipur, Azimganj – Manigram, Sahibganj – Pirpainti, Mandarhill – Rampurhat, progress of the work at Howrah, Sealdah, Asansol and Malda divisions were reviewed in the presence of the DRMs and principal heads of departments.
Gupta further advised the divisional railway managers and principal heads of departments to physically monitor the progress of the projects on a day-to-day basis in coordination with the construction department for their early completion.
