Eicher-Volvo JV eyes mining space with new tippers
18 Nov 2014
November 18: VE Commercial Vehicles (VECV), a 50:50 joint venture between the Volvo Group and Eicher Motors Limited, is looking at a larger share of the mining, construction and haulage space in its next financial year (calendar 2015) with a new range of tipper trucks.
Speaking to ICMW, Shyam Maller, Senior Vice-President, Sales & Marketing, said that in early January, the company plans to introduce the 6x4 tippers which are used in the shallow mining segment. The product will be called 6025.
“Through the better part of next year, that is calendar 2015, VECV will introduce the remaining models of the 6,000 range that is in the pipeline. Investments will be aligned to bringing out these products – which are the 16-40 tons, heavy-duty range. These will target the mining, construction and haulage segments,” Maller said.
Maller further said the investments in the next financial year towards this range “will be a good three-digit figure” declining to reveal the number. The new range will try to seize opportunities of a turnaround that is expected in the coal mining and construction sectors.
