Steam coal imports through Ennore Port rose 28.42% to 1,065,030 tons in February 2016 from 829,316 tons in January 2016, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
Consequently, total imports of the material in the first 11 months (April-February) of the current fiscal stood at 9,876,757 tons against 10,784,684 tons imported in the same period of the previous fiscal (2014-15), showing a year-on-year drop of 8.42%.
In February 2016, steam coal imports stood at 833,680 tons.
Total imports of the material in financial year 2014-15 stood at 11,954,314 tons.

In February 2016, a volume of 924,546 tons came in from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,184-Rs 5,336 ($32-$77) per ton, 72,805 tons came in from South Africa at a price range of Rs 2,669 – Rs 2,869 ($39-42) per ton and the balance 67,679 tons from Russia at a price of Rs 5,323 ($77).
In January 2016, a volume of 762,818 tons came in from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,190-Rs 5,244 ($33-$77) per ton and the balance 66,498 tons from Russia at a unit price of Rs 5,246 ($78).
