Ennore Port coking coal imports show intermittent trend

Coking coal imports have been intermittent through the port of Ennore. In July 2016, a hefty volume of 78,872 tons came in through the port while there had been no imports of the material in June 2016, as per provisional data available with ICMW.
A volume of 43,999 tons of coking coal was imported via the port in May 2016 while from February-April, 2016 there had been none. However, imports of the material took place in January 2016, when a hefty volume of 75,027 tons had come in.
It may be recalled that there had been no coking coal imports from March-December, 2015 underscoring the absence for 10 months.
In January, the entire volume arrived from Australia in a price band of Rs 5,298 – Rs 6,116 ($79-91) per ton.
In February 2015 last, imports of the material via the port had taken place and the volume had been 72,200 tons and prior to that, 56,228 tons in January.
Overall, coal imports are coming down in India, because domestic production is increasing and end-user companies have stocked up.
