Steam coal imports through Ennore Port dropped 17.17% to 882,102 tons in March 2016 from 1,065,030 tons in February 2016, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
Consequently, total imports of the material in fiscal 2015-16 stood at 10,758,859 tons against 11,954,314 tons imported in the previous fiscal (2014-15), showing a year-on-year drop of 10%.
In March 2016, steam coal imports stood at 1,169,630 tons.

In March 2016, the entire volume came in from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,020-Rs 5,288 ($30-$78) per ton.
In February 2016, however, a volume of 924,546 tons came in from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,184-Rs 5,336 ($32-$77) per ton, 72,805 tons from South Africa at a price range of Rs 2,669 – Rs 2,869 ($39-42) per ton and the balance 67,679 tons from Russia at a price of Rs 5,323 ($77).
