December 17: Steam coal imports through Ennore Port went down by 23.94% to 522,328 tons in November 2015 from 686,726 tons in October 2015, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
Consequently, total imports of the material in the first eight months (April-November) of the current fiscal stood at 6,519,652 tons against 7,785,669 tons imported in the same period of the previous fiscal (2014-15), showing a year-on-year drop of 16.26%.
In November 2014, steam coal imports stood higher at 956,941 tons.
Total imports of the material in financial year 2014-15 stood at 11,954,314 tons.

In November 2015, a volume of 383,428 tons came in from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,096-Rs 5,148 ($31-$79) per ton and the balance 138,900 tons from Russia at a band of Rs 5,148 – Rs 5,187 ($78)/ton.
In October, a volume of 548,545 tons came in from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,136-Rs 3,489 ($33-$53) per ton, 68,360 tons came in from Australia at a unit price of Rs 4,015 ($61) per ton and the balance 69,821 tons from Russia at a unit price of Rs 5,080 ($78).
