November 24: Steam coal imports through Ennore Port went down by 18.13% to 686,726 tons in October 2015 from 802,330 tons in September 2015, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
Total imports of the material in the first seven months (April-October) of the current fiscal stood at 5,997,324 tons against 6,828,728 tons imported in the same period of the previous fiscal (2014-15).
In October 2014, steam coal imports stood at 838,864 tons.
Total imports of the material in financial year 2014-15 stood at 11,954,314 tons.

In October, a volume of 548,545 tons came in from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,136-Rs 3,489 ($33-$53) per ton, 68,360 tons came in from Australia at a unit price of Rs 4,015 ($61) per ton and the balance 69,821 tons from Russia at a unit price of Rs 5,080 ($78).
In September, a volume of 658,774 tons came in from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,312-Rs 5,170 ($38-$78) per ton, 71,586 tons from China at a unit price of Rs 4,344 ($65) and the balance 72,000 tons from South Africa at Rs 5,176 ($77)/ton.
