Essar Energy targets peak production of CBM

February 18: Essar Energy plc targets a peak production of 3 million standard cubic meter per day (mscmd) from the current production of 120,000 standard cubic meter per day of its coal bed methane block at Raniganj, West Bengal as a near-term priority, the company said in a statement on February 18.

To achieve this, the company has decided to drill up to 350 wells, out of which 183 wells have already been drilled till December 31, 2013. The company, that obtained phase III environment clearance to drill up to 650 wells, will drill the balance 300 wells over the next 20 years in order to maintain production, the statement said.
