An extension of a firm trend was witnessed in South African coal prices on May 17, taking a cue from the firmness in forward deals, market sources said.
Prices may soften a bit in the coming days due to higher availability of other origin coals of almost same specifications at a competitive price, they added.
Though coking coal prices maintained a soft trend, met coke prices continued to be quoted higher despite restricted demand at current prices, they said.
