June 25: An extension of sluggish trend was witnessed in international spot coal market in absence of demand from major buying countries, market sources said.
Chinese companies are still grappling with credit related issues, while Indian companies are looking at bargain buying, they said.
“Most of the Indian companies are already booked for their requirement of coal till monsoon and they are willing to take position only if prices are low. Current levels, particularly of South African coal, which have firmed up in paper market, are not attractive enough for Indian companies as they are expecting further decline in prices,” sources said.
