July 3: The subdued trend in spot coal prices in international markets witnessed earlier was extended on July 2 on continued absence of buyers, market sources said.
The initial expectation that Chinese companies would come to rescue in absence of major Indian buying did not materialise as a result of which coal prices are ruling soft, they said.
Reports that a few cargo meant for China had to be diverted to South Korea due to liquidity issue in the former is also affecting market sentiment, they added.
