FY16 anthracite imports via Kolkata Port up 5%

A volume of 26,400 tons of anthracite was imported through Kolkata Port while there were no imports of this material through the port in February 2016, as per provisional information available with ICMW.

Total imports of the material in fiscal 2015-16 rose 4.87% year-on-year to 168,452 tons compared to 160,627 tons seen in the same period of the previous fiscal.

Anthracite imports had surged to a whopping 23,001 tons in January 2016 against a mere 40 tons in December 2015. Anthracite imports, through this port, in general, have shown an erratic trends this fiscal so far.

In March 2015, volumes were at 10,240 tons.

Imports for fiscal 2014-15 were at tons.

Following is the break-up of anthracite coal imports via Kolkata Port in 2015-16 & 2014-15:

In March 2016, all the consignments came in from Russia at a price range of Rs 5,633 – Rs 5,663 ($84) per ton.

In January 2016, a single consignment came in from Russia at a unit price of Rs 9,288 ($136).
