PCI coal imports through the port of Kolkata were at 93,187 tons in February 2016 against 84,098 tons in January 2016, showing a month-on-month rise of 10.81%, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
Imports of the material amounted to 60,916 tons in February 2015 while for fiscal 2014-15, the volumes stood at 615,010 tons.
With the February figures, total imports of the material in the first 11 months of the current fiscal of 2015-16 stood at 663,525 tons against 554,004 tons seen in the same period of the previous fiscal, rising 19.77% year-on-year.

In February 2016, a volume of 91,537 tons arrived from Australia in a band of Rs 4,621 – Rs 5,884 ($71-86) per ton and the balance 1,650 tons from South Africa in a band of Rs 4,490 – Rs 4,494 ($66) per ton.
January 2016 saw 74,148 tons arriving from Australia in a band of Rs 4,774 – Rs 5,010 ($70-75) per ton while 9,950 tons came in from South Africa in a range of Rs 4,038- Rs 4,907 per ton.
