Feb non-coking coal imports via New Mangalore double m-o-m

March 21: Non-coking coal imports through New Mangalore Port during February 2014 almost doubled to 434,066 tons as compared to 208,960 tons recorded in January 2014, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
In February 2013, coking coal imports via the port stood at 467,274 tons.
Total imports of coking coal through New Mangalore Port in the first 11 months (April-February) of 2013-14 stood at 3,938,256 tons against 5,230,734 tons recorded in the same period of the previous financial year.
Following is the monthly break-up of coking coal imports via New Mangalore Port in 2012-13 and 2013-14 (in tons):

During February 2014, 303,759 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 4,533-Rs 6,239 ($73-$99) per ton while 130,307 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4,560-Rs 6,164 ($73-$99) per ton.
However, in January, 128,232 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 4,815-Rs 5,854 ($77-$94) per ton while 80,728 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 5,291-Rs 6,164 ($85-$99) per ton.
