Feb pet coke despatches from Indian refineries drop

March 19: Despatches of pet coke (fuel grade) from railway sidings of Reliance Industries Ltd (RIL) and Essar Oil Ltd (Essar) in February declined slightly to 80 rakes as compared to 81 in December, according to information available with ICMW.
The data is strictly not comparable as figures for the month of January 2015 are not available with ICMW.
In fact, despatches in December stood at 94 rakes that included 13 rakes from HPCL-Bhatinda, but it was said that, in February, despatches through HPCL-Bhatinda were mostly by trucks.
Details of despatches from other refineries like BORL and IOCL-Koyali for the month of February 2015 as well as for December 2014 are also not available with ICMW.
Incidentally, despatches from HPCL’s Bhatinda refinery had commenced in November after a major fire in July 2014.

One rake usually carries around 3,550 tons of pet coke.
Beside rakes, despatches from domestic refineries also take place by trucks.
For example, despatches from IOCL’s Koyali refinery generally takes place by trucks to consumers in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan though it had introduced rake loadings in November 2013.
Also, despatches by trucks takes place from other refineries, including RIL’s DTA, but that figure is not available with ICMW.
Of the 61 rakes despatched from RIL’s SEZ and DTA sidings in February 2015, as many as 16 went to Shree Cement, 14 to UltraTech, 10 to J K Lakshmi Cement, 5 rakes each to Birla Cement and Dalmia Cement in Singrauli (Krishnashila), 3 rakes each to Tata Chemicals and Prism Cement, 2 to Hindustan Electrographite and 1 rake each to Saurashtra Cement, Heidelberg Cement and to a plant in Nepal (via Hashimara).
In December 2014, of the total 58 rakes despatched from RIL’s SEZ and DTA sidings, 24 rakes went to Shree Cement, 4 to Ultra Tech, 13 to JK Lakshmi Cement, 2 rakes to Saurashtra Cement, 1 to Prism Cement, 2 to Hindustan Electrographite, 3 to Tata Chemicals, 2 rakes to Birla Chittor and 7 rakes to small consumers whose details are not available at present.
Despatches from Essar’s refinery in February 2015 stood at 19 rakes, down from 23 rakes in December 2014, 33 in October, 28 in September and 18 in July, 2014.
Of the 19 rakes, 3 each went to Mangalam Cement, Heidelberg Cement and Manikgarh Cement, 2 each to UltraTech, Saurashtra Cement and ACC (Ambuja). In addition, 1 rake each went to Tata Chemicals, J K Cement (Nimhara), Jaypee (Rewa) and UltraTech (Dallah).
Of the 23 rakes despatched in December, 5 went to Mangalam Cement, 8 to UltraTech, 1 to Tata Chemical, 4 to ACC (Ambuja), 3 to Heidelberg Cement, 1 to Saurashtra Cement and 1 to Jaiprakash (Dallah).
