Pet coke imports through the port of Kolkata skyrocketed to 29,993 tons in February 2016 against a mere 25 tons in January 2016, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
Pet coke imports have been swinging wildly through this port. It may be recalled that in November last calendar, these had improved to 18,075 tons after plunging to an abysmal 307 tons in October.
Imports of the material in January 2015 were at a far more robust 24,192 tons and for full fiscal 2014-15, were at 165,009 tons.
Total imports of the material in the first 11 months of the current fiscal of 2015-16 went down 6.07% year-on-year to 142,790 tons against 152,033 tons seen in the same period of the previous fiscal.

February 2016 saw 29,857 tons arriving from the US at a price range of Rs 4,698 – 7,980 ($69-117) and the balance 136 tons from China at a unit price of Rs 51,468 ($752).
In January 2016, a single consignment arrived from China at a unit price of Rs 36,312 ($538).
