Feb steam coal imports through Kolkata drop 15%

March 18: Steam coal import levels through the port of Kolkata dropped 14.82% to 149,550 tons in February 2015 against 175,564 tons in January 2015, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
In February 2014, imports were much lower at 7,200 tons.
Steam coal imports through the port in the first 11 months of the current fiscal were at 975,906 tons against a volume of 1,735,675 tons recorded in the same period of the previous fiscal.
Total imports of the material for the entire financial year of 2013-14 were at 1,735,675 tons.

In February 2015, a volume of 139,550 tons arrived from South Africa in a range of Rs 4,093 – Rs 5,886 ($65-94) per ton while the balance 10,000 tons from Australia at a unit price of Rs 4,279 ($69).
In January, however, the entire volume arrived from South Africa in a range of Rs 4,374 – Rs 5,686 ($69-89) per ton.
