Feb steam coal imports via Kandla up 7% m-o-m

March 31: Steam coal imports through the port of Kandla stood at 600,955 tons in February, up 6.98% from 561,725 tons in January 2015, according to provisional data available with ICMW.

Imports of steam coal through the port during February 2014 stood at 326,977 tons.

Imports of steam coal through the port during the first 11 months (April-February) of FY’15 stood at 7,975,298 tons while the same stood at 5,678,950 tons during the same period last year.

Following is the monthly break-up of steam coal imports via Kandla Port in 2014-15 and 2013-14:

In February, 16,147 tons came from Australia at a price range of Rs 6,191-Rs 6,470 ($99-$104) per ton, 198,469 tons from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,169-Rs 4,543 ($35-$73) per ton, 246,579 tons from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4,088-Rs 6,296 ($66-$101) and the balance 139,760 tons arrived from United States at a price range of Rs 5,925-Rs 6,318 ($94-$102) per ton.

However, in January 2015, 21,000 tons came from Australia at a price range of Rs 6,177-Rs 6,578 ($99-$103) per ton, 188,469 tons came from Indonesia at a price range of Rs 2,166-Rs 4,543 ($35-$73) per ton, 268,088 tons came from South Africa at a price range of Rs 4,175-Rs 6,052 ($67-$95) per ton whereas the balance 84,168 tons came from the US at a price range of Rs 6,096-Rs 6,535 ($98-$102) per ton.
