Feb steam coal imports via Paradip spurt 102.30% m-o-m

March 21: Steam coal imports through the port of Paradip rose 102.30% to 989,999 tons in February 2014 against 489,348 tons reported in January of the same calendar, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
With this, steam coal imports through the port during the first 11 months of FY'14 stood at 6,589,030 tons against 6,823,000 tons reported in the same period last year.
Total steam coal imports during the entire financial year of 2012-13 stood at 7,349,688 tons.

In February 2014, imports of steam coal included 967,874 tons from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 2,839 - Rs 5,531 ($45-$88) per ton, 15,988 tons from Australia at a unit price of Rs 5,867 ($94) and the balance 6,138 tons from South Africa at Rs 5,824 ($94) per unit.
In January 2014, 408,727 tons arrived from Indonesia in a price band of Rs 2,692 - Rs 5,546 ($43-$89) per ton, 78,095 tons came in from South Africa in a price band of Rs 5,432 - Rs 6,021 ($86-$97) per ton and the balance 2,525 tons came from Australia at a unit price of Rs 6,019 ($97).
