February coal handling by eight ports up 4% m-o-m

The total handling of coal by eight ports - Cochin, Haldia, Magdalla, New Mangalore, Paradip, Kandla, Tuticorin, Porbander - in February 2016 rose 3.83% to 8,481,605 tons from 8,168,391 ton in January 2016, according to a compilation by ICMW, based on data received from ports.
Similarly, on a year-on-year (y-o-y) basis, handling of coal by the mentioned ports in February 2016 rose 13.82% compared to 7,451,664 tons handled in February 2015.
Total coal handling by these ports during the first 11 months (April-February) of 2015-16 was higher by 9.94% at 88,023,677 tons compared to 80,065,271 tons handled during the corresponding period of 2014-15, the compilation revealed.
