Finish off cement road project-I by Dec 31: Mayor

Mayor Pravin Datke has directed the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC) public works department to complete Rs 123 crore--cement concrete road project-I by December 31. The project commenced on June 6, 2013, and was supposed to be completed within two years but has been delayed to a great extent.
Datke held review meeting of cement concrete road project-I and II on Saturday. Standing committee chairman Sudhir Raut, chairman of public works and projects consultative committee Sunil Agrawal, chairman of city transport committee Narendra Borkar, chairman of backward class committee Raju Lokhande, additional municipal commissioner Rizwan Siddiqui, chief engineer Ulhas Debadwar and other officials were present.
Engineers said six roads were completed under cement concrete road project-I. Datke directed the engineers to meet DCP (traffic) and ensure no-objection-certificate for blocking and executing cement road works on road near traffic office in Civil Lines.
City engineer Manoj Talewar said work orders for 13 of total 22 packages were issued. "Works will be executed on 55 roads in 22 packages. Two packages are ready for work orders. Proposal seeking permission for tendering process of three packages has been tabled before the standing committee. Process for tendering of remaining packages going on," he said.
