Amidst several positive reports, spot prices of steam coal continued to move up on June 3 even as actual deals remained on the lower side, market sources said.
Positive cues from Europe and indications that coal stocks at China’s ports have fallen are contributing to the firmness in the futures market and that, in turn, is aiding the sentiment in spot markets, they added.
Following are indicative prices of coal in various markets and indicative freight rates (Panamax vessels) on June 3:
