July 31: The firm trend witnessed in South African steam coal prices over the past two sessions fizzled out on July 30 due to anticipation of a steep fall in Chinese demand after reports of further softness in its domestic coal prices emerged, market sources said.
Both South African standard coal and Australian steam coal prices softened by more than $1 per ton even as Indonesian rates continued to remain unchanged, they said.
