First Central Co-Ordination Committee meet on Jan 7

31 Dec 2013

December 31: The first meeting of the Central Co-Ordination Committee for the coal sector will be held on January 7, 2014, an official release from the Ministry of Coal said.

This panel was formed by the government recently to offset the slow progress in the development of coal blocks and comprises key members from associated ministries, including environment and forests, and representatives from the coal producing states as well, to ensure "timely and early completion of procedures".

The Central Coordination Committee is slated to meet every quarter to review the progress of major coal projects being developed by public and private entities and to sort out inter-ministerial disputes on approvals related to coal blocks.
