Coal news and updates

The increased uptake of renewables in Australia could see some coal fire powerplants lose money at an earlier rate than expected.

 

This was revealed in a new report by Green Energy Markets and the Institute of Energy Economics and Financial Analysis.

 

The analysis predicts that five out of 15 of Australia’s coal fired power stations could be at risk of losing money by 2025, and at least one is expected to close.

 

Tristan Edis the Director of Analysis and Advisory at Green Energy Markets and co-author of the study and spoke to ABC NewsRadio’s Ali Crew.
