February 11: Taking a cue from the firmness in the futures market, spot prices of standard South African coal (6000 Kcal/kg NAR) rose further on February 10 whereas prices of other origin coals remained largely unchanged, market sources said.
Reports of slight firmness in demand from European buyers for South African coal have led to a firmness in the futures markets, which in turn is impacting spot prices, which had risen continuously from the last week of January after touching a low of $60.40 per ton on January 19.
