GSECL floats tender for 5-mtpa imported steam coall

November 21: Gujarat State Electricity Corporation Ltd (GSECL) has floated a tender for procurement of 5 million tons per annum (mtpa) of imported non-coking coal for a period of 20 years.

The material should have a GCV (AR) of 5,000-6,000 Kcal/Kg and must be supplied directly by the coal miner owner, the tender document said.

The coal thus procured would be used at GSECL’s power stations at Sikka, Jamnagar and other operational thermal power stations in Gujarat which have a tentative annual requirement of 5 mt of imported coal.

GSECL has planned to procure the imported coal for a period of 20 years with
delivery commencing tentatively from April 2016, taking into consideration two years for development/capacity enhancement of the coal block.

The pre-bid meeting would be held on November 24. The last date for submission of bids is January 27, 2015.
