GVK Hancock gets environmental nod for Australia project

October 10: GVK Hancock, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Hyderabad-based GVK Group has been granted an environmental authority (clearance) for its Alpha coal project in the Galilee Basin in Central Queensland, Australia, GVK Power & Infrastructure Ltd said in a filing to the BSE on October 9.

According to a company statement, the environmental clearance for the project has been received after over six years of “comprehensive environment assessment and detailed planning”.

The company statement said this development would help the company come one step closer towards bringing online low-cost and high-quality coal with low ash and sulphur content from the Alpha coal mine in the Galilee Basin in Australia.

Commenting on the development, GVK Reddy, Founder Chairman and Managing Director of GVK, said: “This is one of the most significant milestones in the development of our Galilee Basin coal project till date….”
