Gangavaram coking coal imports up 9% in Dec m-o-m

January 21: Coking coal imports through the port of Gangavaram stood at 540,609 tons in December 2014, up 8.88% from 496,519 tons recorded in the previous month, as per provisional information available with ICMW.
During December 2013, coking coal imports via the port stood at 462,623 tons.
During the first nine months (April-December) of the current financial year of 2014-15, total steam coal imported through the port stood at 3,892,233 tons while the figure was at 3,707,313 tons during the corresponding period of 2013-14.

During December 2014, 523,145 tons came in from Australia at a price range of Rs 6,682-8,557 ($105-$137) per ton while the balance 17,464 tons came from Mozambique at a price of Rs 6,981 ($112) per ton.
However, in November 2014, the entire material came in from Australia at a price range of Rs 7,592-Rs 8,687 ($123-$140) per ton.
