Globalport wins arbitration award against Chennai Port

December 15: Mobile harbour crane (MHC) operator Globalport Solutions, has won an arbitral award binding Chennai Port to allot the claimant JD 2, 4 & 6 with 1^st preference, a shipping industry source said.

Chennai Port has accordingly decided to implement the arbitral award vide a board meeting, the source added

Chennai Port, accordingly, has asked the consignees of the bulk cargo vessels calling Chennai to use the MHC with 1^st preference on their vessels, source added. The MHC hire cost is Rs 53.63 per ton, including service tax.

Consequentially, two vessels of JSW Steel – MV Darya Lakshmi and MV Wadi Albostan – carrying limestone, have been diverted to Krishnapatnam Port from Chennai Port.
