Goa Carbon 2nd quarter net loss at Rs 0.85 crore

October 20: Goa Carbon Limited, the second largest manufacturer of calcined petroleum coke (CPC) in India, said on October 18 that the company registered a net loss of Rs 0.85 crore during July-September or second quarter of 2014-15 against a net profit of Rs 1.19 crore reported in the same quarter last fiscal, the company said in a statement.
During the period under review, the company’s net income from operations stood at Rs 40.19 crore as against Rs 93.16 crore in the same period of last year.
During the first six month of the current fiscal, the company’s net profit stood at Rs 2.71 crore against a net loss of Rs 6.30 crore in the same period of the previous fiscal, the statement said.
Speaking on the company’s performance, Shrinivas Dempo, Chairman, GCL, said, “The company is expected to do much better in the future, as the economy is showing signs of revival in all respects, particularly the aluminium industry.”
