Govt considering policy on washed coal: Dubey
20 Apr 2015
April 20: The Ministry of Coal (MoC) is mulling plans to come out with a policy on washed coal to put stress on beneficiating the mineral before despatching to its users, Dr A K Dubey, Additional Secretary, MoC, said.
“It is under consideration. A decision will be taken in due course,” he told ICMW. He, however, was non-committal when asked about a timeline for the same.
Meanwhile, Coal Secretary Anil Swarup has asked the Coal Preparation Society of India (CPSI) to submit its recommendations on expediting coal beneficiation projects in the country.
CPSI, which works for promoting beneficiation of coal in India, alleged that the issue of a government policy on coal washing has been hanging fire for many years now.
