31 Dec 2015
The government is examining proposals to amend the Major Port Trusts Act, 1963 with a view to modernising the institutional structure of the major ports, Shipping Minister Nitin Gadakari has said.
The intention is to secure greater operational freedom for the ports, in tune with present day requirements, Gadakari said.
He said that the government has already taken a number of steps to augment capacity and improve operational efficiency of major ports.
