Govt revises downward RPower’s Sasan coal blocks

The Ministry of Coal had revised downward Reliance Power’s Moher and Moher Amlohri extension blocks from 20 million tons per annum (mpta) to 16 mpta. This coal block was linked Sasan Power Ltd, a part of Reliance Power.

The ministry wrote a letter on January 6, 2016 to the CMD of Sasan Power, informing that in view of the pendency of the court case, the representation of Sasan Power cannot be examined and no decision can be taken.

In June 2015, RPower was asked to restrict its production to 16 mpta but the company repetitively requested the government to reconsider the matter. 

In this regard, Sasan Power had filed a writ petition in July 2015 in the Delhi High Court. Now the ministry replied to Sasan Power that the matter is sub-judice.
