Southwest China’s Guizhou province produced 81.32 million tonnes of raw coal in the first half of the year, down 2.2% year on year, showed data from the Guizhou Bureau of Statistics on August 5.
The decrease was faster than a 1.9% drop over January-May, as miners further cut output amid flat demand and falling prices.

The province’s coal mining and washing industry witnessed a 3.3% year-on-year rise in the fixed-asset investment to 8.82 billion yuan ($1.44 billion) over January-June.
In the first quarter of the year, Guizhou’s raw coal output stood at 37.3 million tonnes, falling 14.84% year on year; while coal sales were 36.47 million tonnes, down 12% year on year.
