Gypsum imports via Chennai drop sharply in Aug m-o-m

September 25: Gypsum imports through Chennai port dropped by almost 100% to 334.30 tons in August 2013 against 90,704 tons reported in July 2013, as per provisional information available with ICMW.

In August 2013, 324 tons arrived from Iran at a unit price of Rs 5,236 ($85) per ton, 10 tons came from Malaysia at Rs 16,024 ($260) per ton and the balance 0.2 tons from Singapore at Rs 64,924 per ton ($1,054).
 
In July, 90,664 tons arrived from Oman in a price range of Rs 1,569.54 – Rs 1,659.98 ($25.94-$27.82) per ton and 40 tons came in from the US in a price band of Rs 37,946.94 – Rs 38,008.61 ($627-$673).
