Gypsum imports via Kandla fall sharply m-o-m in Sept

October 20: Imports of gypsum through Kandla Port stood at 26,276 tons during September 2014, sharply down by 69.95% from 87,433 tons reported in August 2014, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
During the first six months of 2014-15, total gypsum imports via the port stood at 265,783 tons whereas the figure stood at 84,818 tons during the corresponding period of the previous fiscal.
Following are the monthly details of gypsum imports via the port during 2014-15 and 2013-14:

In September 2014, 3,000 tons came from Iran at a price of Rs 1,288 ($21) per ton, 20,000 tons came from Oman at a price of Rs 1,355 ($22) per ton whereas the balance 3,276 tons came from UAE at a price of Rs 1,325 ($21) per ton.
However, in August 2014, 37,401 tons came in from Iran at a price range of Rs 1,196-Rs 1,274 ($20-$21) per ton while the balance 50,032 tons arrived from Oman at a price of Rs 1,330 ($22) per ton.
