Gypsum imports via Kandla port increase marginally by1.15% m-o-m

October 16: Import of gypsum via Kandla port increased marginally by 1.15% to 15,000 tons in September 2013 compared to 14,829 tons during August 2013, according to provisional data available with ICMW.

In August 2013, however, import of Gypsum was significantly down from 18,000 tons imported during the month of July 2013.

Experts feel that this reduction in import quantity was mainly because of a depressed conditions prevailing in Indian cement industry for the last few months eventhough situation improved a bit in September.

In September 2013, the entire material came from Iran at a price range of Rs 1214 ($18) per ton. During August, entire quantity imported from Iran came at a price range of Rs 1122-Rs 1190 ($18) per ton while during July, the material again came from Iran at a price range of Rs 1085-Rs 1101 ($18) per ton.
