Gypsum imports through the port of Paradip were at 38,899 tons in February 2016 against 52,900 tons in January 2016, showing a month-on-month decline of 26.46%, as per provisional data available with ICMW.
Overall, gypsum imports have shown a somewhat erratic trend this fiscal with no volumes seen in August-September, 2015 while in July, these were at 56,400 tons. Volumes have swung in a wide range too over the last 11 months.
Import volumes of the material in January 2015 were at 93,765 tons.
Total volumes of the material in the first 11 months of the current fiscal of 2015-16 were at 528,341 tons against 901,637 tons recorded in the same period of the previous fiscal (2014-15), declining 41.40% year-on-year.
Total imports of gypsum in fiscal 2014-15 were at 970,622 tons.
