Gypsum imports via Vizag edge down m-o-m in Oct

November 11: Gypsum imports through the port of Vizag dropped marginally by 2.03% to 55,260 tons in October 2014 against 56,406 tons in September, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
In October 2013, gypsum imports through the port stood at 77,954 tons.
On a cumulative basis, imports of the material for the first seven months of the current fiscal stood at 599,640 tons while the same for the previous fiscal were at 628,475.
Vizag Port was affected by Cyclone Hudhud which had made a landfall in the southern India city of Vizag last month. Consequently, cargo handling at the port suffered, bringing down import volumes.

In October, 55,185 tons arrived from Oman in a band of Rs 1,348 – Rs 9,619 ($22-154) while the balance 75 tons arrived from Vietnam at a unit price of Rs 11,883 ($192).
In September, 56,758 tons arrive from Oman in a price band of Rs 1,417 – Rs 9,241 ($23-151) per ton, 75 tons from Vietnam at a unit price of Rs 11,460 ($191) and the balance 73 tons from the UAE at a unit price of Rs 9,244 ($150).
