Gypsum imports via Vizag up 31% m-o-m in September

October 9: Gypsum imports through the port of Vizag increased 31.05% to 56,406 tons in September 2014 against a quantum of 43,043 tons reported in August, according to provisional data available with ICMW.
In September 2013, there were no gypsum imports through Vizag Port.
On a cumulative basis, imports of the material for the first six months of the current fiscal stood at 544,380 tons while the same for the previous fiscal were at 550,521 tons.
Following is the monthly break-up of gypsum imports via Vizag Port in 2013-14 and through 2014-15:

In September, 56,758 tons arrive from Oman in a price band of Rs 1,417 – Rs 9,241 ($23-151) per ton, 75 tons from Vietnam at a unit price of Rs 11,460 ($191) and the balance 73 tons from the UAE at a unit price of Rs 9,244 ($150).
In August, 43,018 tons arrived from Oman in a band of Rs 1,601 – Rs 9,634 ($26-156) per ton while the balance 25 tons came in from Thailand at a unit price of 6,569 ($106).
