HC says JSPL can buy coal from scrapped Gare Palma blocks
13 Jul 2015
The Delhi High Court directed Coal India to sell coal mined from Gare Palma IV/2 and 3 blocks in Chattisgarh through e-auctions, and said Jindal Steel & Power would be eligible to participate. JSPL won the right to mine coal from the two mines during the coal auction held earlier this year but the government cancelled the mines amid concerns the company's winning bids did not reflect the block's fair value. State-run Coal India, which later took over the mines as the HC-appointed custodian, was looking to sell the coal to NTPC .
