HEC to start work on Madhuban washery this week

September 18: After prolonged delay, Ranchi-based HEC Ltd is going to start construction for the Madhuban coking coal washery at Madhuban this week, a top official told ICMW.
“Civil work for the Madhuban washery is going to start this week. The prolonged delay was mainly caused by relocation of sites a number of times. Every time there was relocation, we had to do soil testing and re-look at the design,” the source said.
HEC, along with Schenck Process, bagged the order for the 5 million tons (mt) coking coal washery from Bharat Coking Coal Ltd (BCCL) in 2010-11. The project is to be set up on BOM (build-operate-maintain) basis.
The official said the project should be ready to commission within 18 months.
