Hinduja National Power has commissioned a 1,040 mw power project in
Visakhapatnam, the company said in a statement Monday.
With the commissioning of the project, which includes two units of 520 mw each, the state of
Andhra Pradesh has turned energy surplus, the company said.
"The entire power generated by project is being given to state owned Southern and Eastern
Power Distribution Companies of Andhra Pradesh. It will primarily cater to the growing power
needs of the rising industrial demand in and around the city of Visakhapatnam and the
Southern Region, which includes some of the fastest growing economies in the country,"
said Ashok Puri, managing director.
Hinduja Group, which has identified power generation as one of its focus areas, aims to
scale up capacity to 10,000 mw over the next few years with an expected investment of
around $ 12 14 billion
